As Packers fans around the globe, including here in Paris, try to make sense of our season, Aaron Rodgers has given a message to not give up just yet. Tuesday Night (CET Time) Rodgers wore and shared his Attitude of Gratitude with the Packer faithful.
Falling to 3-6 with 5th straight losses is not easy to take. The Detroit one especially. But when things get bad there seem to be two decisions you make. You either check out or dig deep.
Rodgers explains more below…
Option #1
βCash it in, mentally. Just become an independent contractor almost. And Iβve seen this during my time, not really recently, but where everybody just kind of comes in and does their work and then goes home.β
Option #2
βTo cede to the competitive greatness that lies within you, and what I mean by that is to let that take over and to let that be your North Star, and your guide, and to say, βI care so deeply about this, and I am so thankful for this opportunity and so grateful to still be out there playing, that no matter what happens to anybody on the squad, including myself, Iβm going to go out and compete as hard as I can because that all I know how to do.β Maybe in that, there will be inspiration in others to raise their level of game, but thatβs all I know how to do, and the opposite, like I said, Iβve seen it, and I hope I donβt see it moving forward, but thatβs the other option, is to just come in, do your work. You can still be professional about it, but Iβm going to keep choosing to come in, prepare as I always do, and go put out my competitive greatness on Sunday and hope it is good enough to win and inspire people. Thatβs all I know how to do.β
The Attitude of Gratitude seems to carry on for the rest of the show. Pat and the crew thought of what could be if the Packers went on a hot streak. That would start with the Packers ruining Coach McCarthyβs homecoming by beating the Cowboys at Lambeau. Followed by knocking off the Titans in a short week the Thursday after. And eventually beating NFL’s undefeated Eagles to shock the world!
Now we might be dreaming (or taking a little too much Ayahuasca) but itβs sure a much better choice than drowning in a pool of Packer’s negativity, right? For me. I’m gonna dig deep and go with the Attitude of Aaron Rodgers.
